Geology @ Work

Today is the day! Take this chance to join one of our Kaleideum educators as we visit the Vulcan Materials' quarry. Students will get up close with a large collection of gems and minerals as they explore the Joseph A. Gutierrez Geology and Earth Museum. In addition, we will all take a look down into the massive pit, and marvel at this working rock quarry where actual minerals we use in everyday items are mined. This program is made possible by sponsorship from VULCAN MATERIALS COMPANY. Class starts at 1:00 pm. (Duration: 45 minutes)

 

Grades: K-7

 

Time: 1 pm - 1:45 pm

 

Event Location: Meet at Kaleideum North (formerly SciWorks), then drive over to Vulcan Materials (4401 N. Patterson Ave.)

 

Museum hours on May 1 are 9 am- 4 pm. Prices include Museum admission and program fee. NC Sales tax is applied to admission. On-line sales close April 30 at 9 pm. **Please note new prices for youth admission for those children ages 1-4 years old, attending the day's visit, apply (Youth: $9.00 plus tax). Members, to receive your admission discount, register/sign in on the top right of your screen. Your discount will be applied in your cart before you complete your transaction.
