Earthquakes in North Carolina

The N.C. Geological Survey, in partnership with the N.C. Division of Emergency Management, is offering a one-day workshop for K-12 teachers and non-formal educators. In this hands-on, activity-based workshop, participants will learn:   • History of earthquakes that have affected North Carolina • How to prepare for an earthquake emergency • Earth Science curriculum correlated to Essential Standards • Hands-on activities to use in your classroom or education center Participants will receive a workbook with all the activities as part of an earthquake education classroom kit, plus an additional kit for their school or organization. There is no fee for this workshop.

Participants are eligible for 0.7 CEUs and/or seven hours of credit toward N.C. Environmental Education Certification (criteria III).
