  • ATTENTION! WNC NATURE CENTER AND ALL VISITORS USING THE ASTC PASSPORT PROGRAM
Beginning July 1, 2026, Kaleideum Welcome Desk staff will consistently verify ID and home address for all ASTC reciprocal admissions in accordance with ASTC Passport Program guidelines.
Under ASTC guidelines, reciprocal admission is not honored for guests whose home address is within 90 miles of Kaleideum. As a result, guests who live within the 90-mile radius will no longer be able to use reciprocal memberships from other museums for free admission to Kaleideum, and regular admission rates will apply.
We encourage local families who visit frequently to support their community museum by becoming Kaleideum members. Membership helps sustain exhibits, programs, access initiatives, and hands-on learning experiences for children and families throughout our region.
Please present your ASTC reciprocal membership card at the Welcome Desk upon arrival. Reciprocal admission discounts cannot be applied after tickets have been purchased.
We also recommend contacting participating museums before visiting to confirm reciprocal admission policies, as these may vary by location.
    ASTC guidelines state:
    Before You Travel
“Check for exclusions. Make sure the science center or museum you are visiting is not located within 90 miles of either your home residence or the science center or museum that you belong to. This distance is measured as a linear radius, not driving distance.”

    • Notes from ASTC Before You Travel

      1. Check for exclusions. Make sure the science center or museum you are visiting is not located within 90 miles of either your home residence and the science center or museum that you belong to. This distance is measured as a linear radius, not driving distance. (You can check the linear distance on Google Maps by following these instructions.)
      2. Review the family admittance policy of the venue that you intend to visit. Call before you visit to confirm your Passport Program benefits.
      3. Pack your ID (or other proof of residence). Admissions staff reserve the right to request proof of residence for benefits to apply. Passport Program venues requesting proof of residence are marked by “Proof of Residence Required“.
      4. Pack your membership card. Passport Program venues are not required to grant benefits to visitors who forget their cards. There is no universal database with all Passport visitors’ member data for admission staff to reference. Some venues will allow you to call your home institution to confirm your membership, but they are under no obligation to do so.
        • Lost your card? Please contact your home science center or museum. ASTC does not issue or administer membership cards.
      5. Still have questions? Read our Frequently Asked Questions.

      3. Reciprocal privileges do not extend to discounts for gift shop or café purchases, parking, museum special events, programs, summer camps or birthday parties.
      4. Families must present a valid Membership Card with ACM Reciprocal Network benefits (indicated by the program logo) to receive discounted admission at museums participating in the ACM Reciprocal Network.
